Google My Business Is Now Google Business Profile

Google is changing Google My Business to Google Business Profile as part of an attempt to shift more business profile management out of the Google My Business app and onto Google Search, Google Maps, and other Google services.

In simple terms, Google is aiming to make it easier for single-location companies by keeping the business profiles within Google Search and Google Maps. The goal is to make the procedure easier for their customers.

Continue reading to learn more about Google's revamped Business profile.

What’s New in Google Business Profile?

Google stated that the reason for the name change was to keep things as simple as possible. In addition to changing its name and restricting who can use it, the soon-to-be renamed Google My Business application will be receiving some exciting new functionalities. Some of the new functionalities are:

  • You can claim and validate your Google Business Profile straight from Google Search and Google Maps.
  • You'll be able to track customer or client phone conversations directly through Google Search and Google Maps, including call history.
  • Your customers will be able to contact you in real-time instantly from your Google Business profile. This way, you'll be able to draw in more customers/clients, specially convey your message, and even respond to their inquiries quickly.

How Does It Affect Your Business?

Google is strongly encouraging small businesses to manage their Google Business listings directly from either Google Search or Google Maps, which can be achieved via mobile applications or through the web interface.

The bottom line is that Google wants you to stop using the Google My Business app to manage your business listing and information. Google recommends that you manage your single business listings and information through Google Search and Google Maps.

How to Optimise Your Google Business Profile?

Business Information: You may modify the essential information, such as About, Contact, Locate, Hours, and More, by clicking on the Business Information tab.

Hours
: According to the Google Consumer Barometer, 40% of local business searchers want to find out the business hours. That implies you must keep your hours up to date, especially during the holidays. It's quite easy to adjust your hours using Google Search.

Products
: Adding products to your Google Business Profile is a terrific way to showcase what you have to offer if you sell products at your store or business.

Services
: Adding services is similar to Products wherein it caters to Service Area Businesses (SAB) like landscapers, plumbers, handymen, roofers, locksmiths, etc., or organisations that provide services to clients like lawyers, accountants, personal trainers, etc.

Your customers drive your business, and social media allows you to build rapport naturally. It is normal for some customers to be dissatisfied with your product, but how you handle it affects how others perceive your company. Through online reviews, you can communicate with people who have questions or complaints or who wish to thank you for a great service. Unfortunately, it is difficult to read tone through text. Remember that everyone can read a response, so here are a few things to keep in mind when responding to both positive and negative reviews.
